Scattered among the pastures of Sindia, the imposing Nuraghe Serras integrates into the reliefs of the Marghine with the sculptural strength of its volcanic stone.
The complex plan is dominated by a main circular tower flanked by a bastion and the remains of the outer wall, traced on the ground to defend the settlement. The lower courses of the masonry showcase impressively sized dry-laid blocks, which gradually decreased in size toward the summit of the structure.
Beyond the entrance threshold, the access corridor carved into the thickness of the wall preserves the internal staircase that once led to the upper levels. The inner chamber maintains the characteristic tholos roofing, a stone dome where the interlocking of the boulders creates a protected and shadowy environment, slightly open at the top where the highest courses have yielded to time. The interior retains the scent of earth and bare stone, with the floor partially cluttered with collapse material.
Rising near the course of the Riu Badu Iscannesu, the nuraghe occupied a key position for controlling water resources and the surrounding territory. The view of the monument conveys an architecture that does not force the landscape of Sindia, but becomes its central element: a solid and severe presence testifying to the social organization and construction skills of the Nuragic communities in the area.
