In the territory of Birori, the Nuraghe Sorolo stands out for the exceptional quality of its masonry work.
Consisting of a circular tower, the monument features an outer facing of well-hewn trachyte blocks arranged in regular horizontal courses, which maintain a notable vertical development despite partial collapses of the roof.
Access is through a lintelled entrance facing southeast, equipped with the classic relief triangle to distribute the weight of the masonry above. The access corridor widens slightly toward the interior, housing the staircase that led to the upper floor and the lateral niche carved into the thickness of the wall. The central chamber preserves the base of the tholos and the arrangement of the niches along the main perimeter.
Positioned in the Marghine plain close to local watercourses, the Nuraghe Sorolo fits into a territorial context marked by a dense presence of settlements from the same era. The structure testifies to the mastery of trachyte-working techniques, combining defensive functionality, static stability, and strategic control of the surrounding landscape.
