This is a granite monolith standing over four meters high that defies the slope of the terrain, remaining firmly anchored to the ground thanks to a calculation of weights and joints that has remained intact since the pre-Nuragic era.
Whoever erected this giant was by no means seeking artificial ornamentation. The stone was worked only to clear it of the excesses of the raw material, carving out a slender and angular shape pointing straight toward the sky. No engravings, sculpted faces, or decorative symbols are found along its surface; the visual impact is entirely entrusted to the power of the raw stone and its solitary balance on the hillside.
Neither a funerary monument nor a defensive outpost, the stele maintained a strictly conceptual role in the surrounding territory. Its soaring mass served to mark a boundary space, a mineral buoy clearly visible from nearby ridges that guided the movements of livestock and indicated the chosen place for collective rites, marking the presence of man in the ancient geography of Ogliastra.
