Nuraghe La Prisgiona

It is not just a nuraghe, but a true Bronze Age metropolis that dominates the Capichera valley in Arzachena.

The Nuragic complex of La Prisgiona represents one of the most extraordinary centers of political, religious, and economic power in all of Sardinia. Dominated by an imposing central tower flanked by two minor towers and enclosed by a strong bastion, this site surprises with its exceptional state of conservation and the complexity of its urban layout.
Around the fortress extends a vast village of over ninety granite huts, crossed by narrow stone lanes and small collective courtyards. Among the most fascinating environments stands out the meeting hut, where a circular seat and a large central jar bear witness to the moments of civic and ritual gathering of the community. The area also includes an internal sacred well over seven meters deep, which guaranteed water autonomy to the complex and continued to provide clear water throughout the year.

Visiting La Prisgiona means taking a true journey through time, walking along the same streets frequented over three thousand years ago by artisans, potters, and tribal chiefs. Immersed in the colors and scents of the Gallura scrub, the site offers an engaging and essential experience to understand the daily life, social organization, and constructive ingenuity of the Nuragic civilization.
