If you are looking for the right spot to unplug and light up the grill, Monte Lopene is the ideal destination. Situated directly opposite the Golgo Plateau, this impressive limestone ridge dominates the landscape with its vertical cliffs, offering a wide-open view over the rugged nature of Baunei—halfway between the inland peaks and the blue of the sea.

The real surprise of this stop is its welcoming spirit. The mountain features a fully equipped park with shaded picnic areas and convenient barbecue spots, perfect for a relaxing break after a hike or for organizing a day outdoors with friends and family. All around, the Mediterranean scrub fills the air with its rich aromas, as pines, oaks, wild rosemary, thyme, and rockrose cling to the white rocks, where mouflons and wild goats are often spotted making a guest appearance.

Once the barbecue is finished, Monte Lopene's location invites you to hit the trails right away. From its surroundings, easy paths wind toward traditional pinetos—the ancient Baunei shepherd huts crafted from stone and juniper—and lead quickly to the nearby plateau's most famous highlights, such as the Su Sterru abyss and the charming church of San Pietro.
