Following with the eyes the motifs carved into the tuff of Luzzanas causes a subtle thrill, as if the rock guarded the key to an enigmatic spiritual journey. The sight of the famous labyrinth engraved inside the domus de janas of Benetutti transmits a vivid emotion, suspended between the fascination of the symbol and the mystery of ancient funerary rites.
The site consists of an hypogeic tomb carved into a dark rock bench, famous throughout Sardinian archaeology for its symbolic decorations. The most prominent element is the meandering petroglyph, known as the labyrinth, engraved on the wall with a precise stroke that evokes ritual paths and meanings linked to the journey beyond life. The hypogeum includes a short access corridor leading to an anteroom and a main funerary chamber with a sub-circular plan. On the internal walls, further sculpted and engraved motifs emerge, including stylized taurine protomes and details reproducing the structure of Copper Age dwellings.
Admiring the precision of these millennial engravings allows one to perceive the spiritual depth of an ancient community, capable of transforming a funerary cavity into a space of art and profound devotion. The monument leaves the vivid memory of a timeless symbol etched forever in the stone.
