Arbus

It is the third largest municipality in Sardinia (after Sassari and Olbia), boasting a territory renowned for its natural and historical treasures. With its cinematic, wise, and tranquil atmosphere, it has earned the nickname of “Arbus Silente.”

To describe this enchanting village, perched 300 meters above sea level, one only needs to list the extraordinary highlights of its historical and environmental heritage.
Arbus is not just a village—it is more like a small universe in itself, home to archaeological sites such as the Nuraghe Cugui; the Giants’ Tomb of Bruncu Espis in the Funtanazza area; the Nuraghe Narocci in Scivu; a WWF Oasis; an 800-meter mountain with a humanoid profile (Monte Arcuentu); a UNESCO-recognized Geomining Park; a beach (Su Pistoccu) where two 9,000-year-old skeletons (nicknamed Beniamino and Amsicora) were discovered; as well as the Black Sheep, an indigenous Sardinian breed (the second on the island and one of only 17 in Italy), from which prized ricotta and traditional PAT cheeses are produced. Not to be missed is also the Knife Museum, dedicated to the famous Arburesa, known worldwide, along with evocative mining sites such as Ingurtosu and Montevecchio.

A wealth and variety of atmospheres that few other Sardinian towns can claim—making Arbus an essential stop for anyone passing through this part of the island!
