Campidano of Sanluri and Marmilla

Collinas

Its name, which in Campidanese Sardinian quite literally means “hills”, is like a whisper that hints at the landscape in which this ancient village is nestled — evoking the warm, bucolic atmosphere that makes it one of the most welcoming and enchanting villages in all of Marmilla.

Strolling through the cobbled streets of the historic centre, one has the sensation of stepping into a suspended moment in time — still alive, still beating. The medieval-style lanes, lined with stone houses, conceal courtyards bursting with pomegranate trees and blooming geraniums, all embraced by gentle hills, swaying wheat fields and centuries-old olive trees. Here, the landscape is not mere scenery, but true identity.
An authentic soul expressed through the rhythm of its festivals — the perfect occasion to savour traditions steeped in history and the unmistakable flavours of the local cuisine. It all begins in January with the celebration of Saint Sebastian, the village’s patron; in August, devotion reaches its peak with the Feast of Saint Rocco and its solemn procession; and in May, with Saint Isidore and Primavera in Marmilla, the village opens its doors in a burst of rural hospitality, filled with flowers, crafts and homemade delights.
Tradition and nature intertwine with an archaeological heritage perfectly blended into the surrounding landscape, dotted with ancient nuraghi and enriched by the Roman baths of Su Angiu, lying beside the evocative rural church of Santa Maria Angiargia. Places that recount centuries of human presence among the very hills that still stand watch over the village today.

Collinas is not just a place to visit — it is a place to live.
A village where silence meets celebration, where nature embraces culture. Perfect for those seeking tranquillity, yet equally for those who love to travel through stories — the ones told by the elders on their doorstep, the ones carved into stone, the ones celebrated year after year among hills as welcoming as the faces of its people.
